Hello All,
I heard about this on the radio & it is totally linked to APES, so I would like to get your take on this. Here are your questions:
1) What is the idea behind a carrot mob? (In your own words please!)
2) Do you think that this will be the enivironmental voice of your generations?
Remember your response is due Tuesday November 29,2011.
Comments we'll discuss in class on November 30,2011.

1) A carrot mob is when a group of people agree to give money to a business or organization, who will in return support a idea or action that people care about.
ReplyDelete2) I believe that this will be the environmental voice of our generations. I believe this because if we have a hard time getting our voice heard then we can use the carrot mob to get our ideas out there. Although it would come with a price (literally), it would benefit us all in the end.
1. The carrot mob is a campaign which people can sign up and give money to or support a business and in return that business will give back by helping to fix an issue that the people feel is in need of fixing. The slogan is "vote with you money". So if a group of people go to a restaurant like flat bread and have big parties and spend as much money as they can, an in return flat bread will use some of the money they make to help fund a beach cleanup in Paia.
ReplyDelete2. I too believe that this will be the environmental voice of my generation. Unfortunately we have come to a place where the only way we can get corporations to think about the environment is if be bribe them. Some people would say that funding corporations is the opposite of helping the environment but when looking at the big picture you can see that your really investing your money into the environment.
1. A carrot mob is when you and a group of people buy and/or support a business in the community that is being socially responsible. You use your money to help the environment by only buying items from stores that are being "greenier" than the other stores around them.
ReplyDelete2. I don't think that this will be the voice of our generation because that is not what is what people first think about when buying something. Also today you can get your product in many different places, and shutting down and only buying from one place will not be a big impact on the large selection we have.
1) A carrot mob is a group of people who choose to buy products or support a single business that is socially responsible, which in turn helps increase the company's income. This can be used by groups to encourage businesses to use certain ideas which can be social or environmental.
ReplyDelete2) I feel like this can be a great way to help the voices of the future be heard. However, I feel like it would take a lot of people with the same ideas to initiate the plan effectively, making it hard to believe that carrot mobs will become particularly effective in the future. If people are able to make it work, then it can make businesses listen to the ideas of these people, which can be good or bad.
